Winter Storm Sunset – the Right Place at Right Time with Camera

Sometimes the most important thing in capturing a wonderful photo is just having a camera.

The late Winter rains that caused snow levels to drop to 1000 feet in the San Francisco Bay Area also provided magnificent colors for this Winter sunset.

This image was made at the Costco Gas station in Tracy, California. I made several images while the gas was pumping, and when finished I parked just 30 yards away and lined up this photo. Normally late February isn’t a stormy time in the extended San Francisco Bay Area. Even less likely are snow levels down to 500 feet with such a storm. Though that was the case, and this photo captures a sunset as the storm left the area the next day.
