This image, which the lake captures the reflections of the trees was made just before the setting sun vanished from the tops of the trees.

The still water of Lake Jenkinson in the Sly Park Recreational area caused a reflection of the trees from above in the water.

Having seen this light the day before, but without a camera, I was given a some what dirty look when I mentioned leaving around dinner time to capture the still water and reflection it created. The couple in the boat wasn’t planned, they were just a happy coincidence.

The photo was taken with a Canon 5D Mark 2 and 17-40 f/4.0 zoom lens at 19mm. The lens is great for walking around and provides a zoom range for most photos. The other upside to the lens is the price tag isn’t so high, and used version can be purchased at a quite reasonable price.

Jenkinson Lake is a lake located in El Dorado County, California inside the Sly Park Recreational area near Pollock Pines, California. The slightly larger than 1 square mile lake has a surface elevation of 3400 feet. If you are feeling adventurous, the walk around the lake is about 9 miles and can be accomplished in two and a half hours. Don’t forget to bring some water as the heat and elevation can be quite taxing.
