You most likely have heard the name Fairbanks Alaska before, but you don’t really know much about it. Cold, yeah it gets cold there. Minus 40 during the winter is possible, and 80 during the summer happens. In fact the cold is so bad that you have to plug your car in at night ( frost plug heater ) and heat the engine block, otherwise it will freeze solid.

Fairbanks is one of the bigger cities in Alaska with an 2008 estimated population of 35,000. If you fly into town on a commercial jet, most likely you will be on the only commercial jet at the Fairbanks International Airport.
